The Heads-Up Team Championship semi-finals just started...
In the Quebec Championship, Brian Dionne from the Salon de Billard Hériot in Drummondville kills two birds with one stone when his A-Q takes out André Guimond with 10-10 and Steve Phillips with A-10 on a board of A-J-8-9-3... Brian is now well off with 370,000 chips!
10:00am
Marc Chrétien’s straight, hit on the river with A-K took care of André Gagnon’s dream who had bet all his 72,000 chips with A-4 suited with blinds of 8000-16,000.
With Manfred Beaunègre taken out earlier, the final table is now at 6.
10:15am
The table is now at 5 players since the elimination of Jeannot Roy with his A-K suited by Jonathan Thériault and his pocket of lucky 7’s.
10:20am
The Heads-Up Team Championship semi-finals just ended. Team 1 beat team 3.
Featuring:
Team 1:
André Boyer, champion 3rd Celebrity Tournament
Odette Tremblay, his spouse
Pierre Martel
Team 3:
Pierre Rinfret, champion 2nd Celebrity Tournament
Patrick Marcil, champion 3rd Stage, Season 1
Kim Jolicoeur, director, money winner during the trip to the WPT in Foxwoods
Starts now, the final match between Team 1 and Team 4 comprised of:
Team 4:
Jean-Pierre Angélil
Steve Lamadeleine, champion Stage 4, Season 1
Benoît Robichaud, directeur, money winner during the trip to the WSOP in Atlantic City
10:45am
After 2 hours of play, a small 15 minute break well deserved for the 5 Quebec Championship finalists.
11:00am
Back from the break, blinds are 12,000-24,000.
11:15am
In the Heads-Up Tournament, Jean-Pierre Angélil took out Pierre Martel in 2 hands. His chips as well as the chips won are now split between his teammates who all have to still win their own heads-up match against the 2 players left from Team 1, even if Team 4 is now better "stacked".
11:45am
There are still 5 players left in the Quebec Championship and Jonathan Thériault is still the chipleader. Blinds are 15,000-30,000.
11:55am
Léandre Pellerin’s instinct delivered when he sniffed out a bluff from Jonathan Thériault and followed until the river. On a board of : 7c 2c Ad 3s 9d, Jonathan unveiled Q-8 of clubs against K-9 of clubs for Léandre. Good feeling... Léandre won the humongous pot!
12:00pm
The Heads-Up Championship is now over, Team 4 won. Congratulations to Jean-Pierre Angélil, Steve Lamadeleine and Benoît Robichaud !
12:15pm
Exit stage left for Marc Chrétien, eliminated by Léandre Pellerin... 4 players left at the final table...
12:20pm
Léandre is on fire!... He eliminates another player!... The unfortunate is Luc Trudel, who went out 4th... only 3 players left, who will leave on a trip?
12:45pm
With blinds at 25,000-50,000 and on the respirator, Bryan Dionne gives his all by pushing all-in with his 9-10 and is called by with K-9. A 10 on the river saves him in extremis on a board of Q-7-2-Q-10.
12:50pm
Brian Dionne with K-Q suited just got kicked out by his fellow player from the Salon de Billard Hériot in Drummondville, Léandre Pellerin (him again!) and his pocket Q’s. The last 2 players: Léandre and Jonathan are guaranteed to win a trip, only the destination is left to be determined. The heads-up will resolve that issue...
Blinds are still 25,000-50,000.
Léandre Pellerin : 940,000 chips
Jonathan Thériault: 595,000
1:40pm
After the stacks got pushed around, Jonathan Thériault is finally crowned Quebec Poker Champion, Season 1! His pocket deuce held on against Léandre Pellerin’ A-J. Congratulations to Jonathan who gets the Championship bracelet and wins the trip to Paris ! And congratulations to Léandre who will be going to the WSOP in Las Vegas next June!
2:10pm
Due to some latecoming registration, the tournament starts a few minutes late... and here we go! Shuffle up and deal!

2:30pm
Rejeb Ben Mustapha, director at the Bar Déjà Vu in Hawsbury in Ontario throws his mini-pocket deuce in the arena against A-10. An Ace on the river and he gets thrown out...
2:55pm
A full on a board of 8-8-10-9 by Sébastien Tremblay from the bar l’Évasion holding 8-9, disarms Jean-Marc Masella’s cowboys.

5:15pm
Jean-Philippe Gilbert from the River Pub in St-Georges de Beauce got a call from his girlfriend while at the table informing him that the baby was coming. His tournament is definitely over. It’ll be their first baby, a little boy in a hurry. Careful on the road Jean-Philippe !...

A few minutes before the break, Chadi Taoutel hit again. This time, it’s Bruno Boudreau from the Maximum in St-Hubert who pays. Both have A-K but Chadi makes his flush and wins 26,000 chips! Bruno, whose stack has been greatly damaged, manages to bring it back up from 500 to 8000 chips.
11:00am
2nd elimination in the Heads-up: Marco Bernier lost his duel against Steve Lamadeleine when his A-5 didn’t hold against Steve’s A-3 suited when Steve hit his flush.

11:15am
For Michel Cusson, Alain Paré and Rejeb Ben Mustapha, the District Championship is now over.
After the elimination of Benoit Robichaud and Steve Lamadeleine, Jean-Pierre Angélil faces off against Guy A. Lepage. Guy A. throws his Kings in the ring but they end up losing against Jean-Pierre’s pocket 6 transformed into a full house on the flop, with a board of 7-6-7-5-4.
But the Heads-Up tournament rules stipulate that even if you are eliminated, if players from your team are still in the game, the chips are split between the teammates and round 2 of the game continues. Each team is heads-up against a member of the opposite team, 2 teams per table, cards are community cards.
Speaking of heads-up, Karl Comeau is also facing off against Chadi Taoutel at the District Championship.
1:00pm
The heads-up is still going on in the District Championship. The protagonists battle well and show patience. Chips are passed from one to the other. Blinds are now 1000-2000.
The Heads-up Championship is now over. Pierre Martel gave his team the victory and allows his team to make it to the semi-final by foiling Guy A. Lepage with a pocket 7 against Q-J on a board of 10-3-4-5-K. 1:30pm
Patience paid off for Karl Comeau from Québec who wins the District Championship with pocket 3 against A-Q for Chadi Taoutel on a board of 2-7-3-9-10. Congratulations Carl and have a good trip to the City of Lights!

Play resumes. Blinds are 1500-3000. We are now playing with the big boys...
8:05pm
At the celebritie’s table, Guy A. Lepage just became chipleader at the expense of Jean L’Italien who after having though about it for a long time, decides to call Guy A.’s all-in with pocket 7. Guy shows 9-J on a board of 2-10-9-9-J. Guy A. just increased his odds to go back to the WSOP in Las Vegas. Congratulations !
8:15pm
Marc-André Fleury seals Jean L’Italien’s destiny... it’s the celebrity heads-up...
8:45pm
Stéphane Busatta from Sorel-Tracy who plays at the Brasserie St-Louis and the Petit Bourg saw his A-K suited get the kiss of death by his opponent’s set of Queens.
The celebrity’s duel was concluded by Guy A. Lepage’s victory. He’ll surely hum a little "Viva Las Vegas" on his way back home... Congratulations Guy A. ! Nice performance !
8:05pm
Gilles Plouffe puts an end to his performance on a desperate hand. with blinds at 2500-5000 and a stack of 9500 chips, he tries his luck with A-3 and is called by Q-3 of clubs which completes the flush. He leaves with a smile, and as he so eloquently puts it: "I got enough gifts for today..." He will temp faith again tomorrow in the Stage 2 tournament.
9:15pm
82 players and 20 owners and directors are still in the running.
In the Owners and Directors Tournament, Marie-Claude Lavoie from the Resto Pub Napoléon Pacino in Chicoutimi just sat down in the driver’s seat when her full with pocket 6’s cracks her opponent’s flush with A-3 of diamond. Flush right off the 6-9-10 of diamonds flop, cracked on when the turn brought a 9. Ouch! Nice hand Marie-Claude !
9:30pm
Maxime Boisjoli from the Jolodium in Joliette pushes all-in his 18,500 chips with pocket A’s and is called by J-Q and the 8-Q of Stéphane Poirier from the Terminus in Hull. The shock is violent when a 9 comes out on the turn for a final board of 3-10-J-A-9...

Welcome to all, poker lovers!
We are finally here! Our players have come from Quebec’s four corners to meet here at Montreal’s Congress Centre and play the ultimate game: the Quebec Poker Championship, which will crown the best player of the first season. This famous weekend will see a lot of exciting moments, full of twists and thrills. In all, 16 different tournaments, all categories combined, comprised of more than 2500 players, will be played for three days for the coveted first places. We all agree, this will be a poker weekend worthy of the title!
The kick-off today starts with the two most important championships of the year: the District Championship and the Quebec Poker Championship, where will face-off the League’s top players, the top of the heap, the best of the best...
The first tournament of the day is the District Championship (shoot-out) which started a few minutes ago. Comprised of 64 players, it should end around 2:00pm with the qualification of our 8 finalists which will meet again tomorrow at 8:00 at the final table.
At 2:00pm, the Quebec Poker Championship (freeze-out) bringing together 178 players and which will last approximately 12 hours, will start. The 10 player final table will be played Monday May 18th at 8:00am.
9:00am
In the District Championship, we already have 8 players eliminated, the 30 minute blinds are now at 200-400. The players are very serious, it’s serious poker... very serious...
9:20am
Rock Tremblay from the Bar Parent in Loretteville sees his queens defeated by his opponent’s ace-queen when the ace falls on the river. Rock will be back this afternoon for the Quebec Poker Championship.
9:30am
Jocelyn "Diamond" Lauzon crippled by a bluff on the previous hand is given the final blow when he moved all in with A-8 and was called by two opponents holding respectively 10-6 and 10-5. They will split the pot on a board of 6-7-4-9-8. This morning was only a warm up as M. Diamond also plays in the Quebec Poker Championship at 2:00pm.
9:45am
André Gagnon from the Brasserie Le Baraka in Lévis just got taken out and will now be able to take a small break until the Quebec Championship.
10:00am
Ricky Coulombe from the British Hotel in Gatineau saw his Queens bow to his opponent’s Aces. Best of luck for this afternoon Ricky !
10:10am
With Q-J, Richard Baril from the Jolodium in Joliette pushes his stack all-in and is called by pocket 8. A tandem of 8’s come out on the flop and the quad uppercut finishes our friend.
10:15am
15 minute break
10:30am
We’re back from the break. Blinds are 500-1000.
11:00am
Dave Harrison from the Bar Campus in Rimouski, after tripling up, bets all he has on A-J and is quickly taken out by his opponent’s Queens.
11:05am
Jean-Guy Turcotte from the Napoléon in Chicoutimi sees his A-8 foiled by a small pocket 4 which survives the board. He will come back tomorrow and Monday for the Season 2 Stage 1 and Stage 2 tournament.
11:15am
Claude Gauthier from the Hôtel Le William in Asbestos with K-J is the victim of a lonely ace which appeared on the river. Claude will finally be able to go rest...
11:20am
Denis Dagenais from the Taverne Montcalm in Gatineau sees his pocket 9 hit pocket Jacks which even gets better by hitting a third Jack on the flop.
11:25am
We now have three tables heads-up..
11:45am
We have the chance to see 3simultaneous eliminations:
Daniel Boyer from the Bar Le Sieur in Lachenaie with A-9 against A-8 is taken out when an 8 hits the flop. Daniel will be able to try again this afternoon since he’s playing in the Quebec Championship.
Christian Desgagné from the Pub du Nord in Sherbrooke had his Aces cracked by a measly pocket 2’s when a deuce is spiked on the flop. Christian plays tomorrow in the Stage tournament.
Sylvie Pagé from Louiseville has her A-Q shot down by cowboys. Sylvie will try to do better this afternoon, tomorrow or Monday since she qualified for all those tournaments. Good luck champion!
12:05pm
Three winners are determined right before the break:
Rejeb Ben Mustapha, Argenteuil district
Karl Comeau, Vanier district, National Capital
Alain Paré from Drummondville, Centre du Québec
1:15pm
Shortly after the break, Edith Beausoleil from the Bar Billard L’Arcade in St-Gabriel de Brandon loses his heads-up against Martin Croteau when his Queens (them again!!!) get thrown overboard by his opponent’s K-6 when he hits 2 pairs on the board... Edith will try to take her revenge tomorrow, at the Stage tournament. Congrats Martin !
We still have two tables playing heads-up...
1:30pm
Chaoudi Taoutel from Montréal and Michel Cusson from Montérégie both won their heads-up.
The District Championship is over for today. The final table will be played tomorrow at 8:00am. The finalists are:
Alain Paré from Drummondville
Bruno Boudreau from Montérégie
Martin Savard from Louis-Hébert, National Capital
Chadi Taoutel from Montréal
Michel Cusson from Montérégie
Martin Croteau from Bellechasse, Chaudière-Appalaches
Karl Comeau from Vanier, National Capital
Rejeb Ben Mustapha, Argenteuil
Congratulations and good luck tomorrow!
1:45pm
The seating draw for the Quebec Championship is being done as we speak, the players are invited to take their seat.
2:00pm
It’s a go! We have 151 players in the tournament. Good luck to all! Shuffle up and deal!
2:15pm
Jocelyn Lauzon is the first one out of the tournament... Maybe it wasn’t "Mister Diamond’s" day today but we hope that Lady Luck will be on his side tomorrow and Monday.
2:45pm
Éric Carrière who plays at the Terminus and the Forum in Gatineau is the 10th player taken out.
With A-Q in hand, he hits is A on the flop... yessss ! But a 3 on the turn gives a set to his opponent... Ouch!
3:00pm
David Laprise follows Marco Bernier’s all-in with his A-10 after a flop of A-10-5. A 5 on the turn spoils his party... but not Marco’s who holds A-5...
3:25pm
Sandra Seto is a victim of the damned pocket Aces when the board refuses to cooperate and give the straight to her opponent who holds J-J. Sandra plays in the Heads-up Championship and the Stage tournament tomorrow.
3:45pm
Stéphane Fontaine is thrown out of the ring by a tag-team of Daniels when his 10-10 is called by Daniel Bouchard of the Salon de Billard Hériot in Drummondville with Q-K and Daniel Lévesque from Laval with A-Q. The latter wins it all on a bord of 4-9-3-Q-J.
4:00pm
The Venue Championship just started with 16 players in the running. Good luck to all directors and owners!
4:05pm
15 minute break for the Quebec Championship.
4:20pm
And we start again, blinds are 500-1000 with 105 participants still playing.
4:45pm
Frédéric Pépin who plays at the Grand Hôtel and at the River Pub in St-Georges de Beauce bets his last chips with a pocket 6 but Marco Bernier’s pocket 9 eats ’em up.
5:00pm
Pierre Leblanc from the British Hotel in Gatineau, after a pre-flop raise of 4000 chips with A-J of diamond, is called by Bryan Dionne from the Salon de Billard Hériot and his pocket Q. On the A-9-7 flop, Pierre pushes the rest of his 5100 chips in, the Queens hang on and a Queen on the river ends Pierre’s big plans.
France Lajoie, director at the Jolodium in Joliette and who so generously gives her time to help in the tournament sends a bunch of hellos to her players!
5:20pm
75 players are left in the Quebec Championship with an average chip stack of 25,000, Blinds are at 800-1600.
Only 12 players are left in the Venue Championship since Christian Chabot from the Bar L’Évasion in Charlevoix just went out when his pocket Jacks encountered A-Q paired up on the board. We will see Christian tomorrow at the V.I.P. Stage tournament.
5:45pm
Queens are hit again! Martin Croteau from the Bar aux Sportifs in St-Gervais has his pocket Q clubbed by a pocket Ace turned set on the river. Martin is on the final table of the District Championship, he will be able to go to bed early and be in shape for tomorrow’s game.
5:55pm
Unbelievable!... The same scenario is repeated for Etienne Laverdière with a pocket Q against Jean-Claude Hamel’s pocket Aces! Étienne and Jean-Claude both play at the Récréathèque in Laval. This time though, the aces didn’t push it on the river.
6:30pm
It’s the supper break for the Quebec Championship with 47 players left and an average chip stack of 39,000.
It’s the final table for the Venue Championship. One player will win this tournament tonight.
7:00pm
Jacques Tremblay, director at the Stanley in Québec loses a coin-flip when his pocket 10 loses to paired up Jacks on the flop.
Supper break for the Venue Championship.
7:30pm
The Quebec Championship starts again, blinds are 1500-3000.
7:50pm
François Quezel from the Hôtel Farnham gives his all by pushing his small stack all-in pre-flop with A-J suited but a straight by one of his opponents ends his dream.
8:00pm
Another small stack just went out. It’s Ginette Robinson from la Bille d’Or in Val d’Or. Her A-9 didn’t hold up against her opponent’s straight.
The top 18 places will win prizes and the top 10 will also be at the final table Monday morning. There are now 41 players in the Quebec Championship. The closer we get to the bubble and the more we will see small stacks just fall off.
Blinds are 2000-4000.
The Venue Championship started again.
8:45pm
Andrée Gauvin, director at the Bar l’Action in Charlemagne who was playing in the qui Quebec Championship, sees her A-9 lose the bet against her opponent’s A-9 suited when he hit is flush on the board.
9:05pm
André Gagnon from the Bar Le Baraka in Lévis wins a jackpot of 100,000 chips with A-K against Alain Allard from Louiseville’s A-J on a board of Q-10-4-J-J. What a cruel world!
Blinds are 3000-6000.
9:20pm
8 players are left in the Venue Championship and the blinds are 800-1600.
9:35pm
Marco Bernier’s K-9 just broke its teeth on the rock hard pocket A’s of Jonathan Thériault from the Les Sportifs and the Zodiac in Roberval on a board of K-9-5-K when a miracle A came out on the river.
Kim Jolicoeur, money winner on the Foxwood trip has just been eliminated from the Venue Championship. 7 players are left in this tournament.
9:50pm
We’ll be back after the break. Blinds are 3500-7000, 19 players are still in the running in the Quebec Championship, it’s now bubble time to be a prize winner... The tournament will keep going until there are 10 players left for the final table.
9:55pm
Raymond Boisvert from the Bar Lido in Shawinigan bursts the bubble. From position 6 to 18, a $500 entry fee for a tournament at the Montreal Casino is offered. Congratulations to the 18 winners!...
The tournament goes on to determine the final table... but the live coverage ends here for today. We will be back tomorrow morning at 8:00am with the District Championship final table. We will then announce the finalists of the Quebec Championship and the winner of the Venue Championship.
It’s a date!
